More Getting to Know the FringeNYC 2016 Playwrights
As promised, today I introduce you to several more of the new playwrights whose work is part of the FringeNYC 2016 collection on Indie Theater Now. Today’s playwrights are: Cassie M. Seinuk, Kevin Broccoli, Ethan Ness, Michael Bradley, Britton Buttrill, Ben Holbrook, and Harrison Bryan.
I’m excited to get to know Michael Bradley (THE ILLUSORY ADVENTURES OF A DREAMER), because he and I have something important in common: just as I did in 1996 when I created nytheatre.com, Michael has translated his passion for theater into the operation of an NYC theater reviews/news website, Theater in the Now. (One place we differ: he writes plays, I don’t!)
Harrison Bryan (STILL NOT) is a two-time finalist of Stephen Sondheim’s Young Playwrights’ Write-A-Play Festival. (He’s still a young playwright, even though he’s all grown up now.) Ben Holbrook (SINNERS ON A SOUTHBOUND BUS) is another award winner, as the inaugural recipient of the Peter Shaffer Award for Excellence in Playwriting.
Britton Buttrill is now based in NYC, but he’s originally from Georgia–and that background figures importantly in his play SCRATCHING. Cassie M. Seinuk‘s heritage similarly informs her playwriting: she describes herself as a Jewish Cuban writer and currently works with Boston Public Works Theatre Company. Her play is FROM THE DEEP.
Ethan Ness (DIE FOR ME) is the founder and creative director of Thin Space Productions, a small theater production company located in Manhattan. And Kevin Broccoli (AMERICAN STRIPPERS) is the Artistic Director of Epic Theatre Company located in Cranston, Rhode Island.
So as you can see, our new ITN playwrights are a diverse and interesting bunch. I hope you’ll follow links to all of their bios and get to know them better!
